RAMESH ( knocks at the door): |
May I come in Sir? |
CHAIRMAN: |
Please come in. (Ramesh walks in.) Please take your seats. |
RAMESH: |
Thank you Sir |
CHAIRMAN: |
Mr. Ramesh you have indicated that cricket is your hobby. What is your specialisation, batter, or bowling? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, I am an opening batsman but I also bowl right arm leg spin. |
CHAIRMAN: |
So, you are an all – rounder. Whom do you consider as the greatest all rounder of all times and why? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, generally Kapil Dev, Imran Khan, Ian Botham and Richard Hadlee are considered as amongst the greatest all – rounders. But I consider Kapil Dev as the greatest amongst them, for under his captaincy India won the World Cup in 1983. |
CHAIRMAN: |
But Imran Khan also brought home the 1991 World Cup to Pakistan? |
RAMESH: |
It is true that Imran Khan was also a great all – rounder. But it was Kapil’s knock of 175 not out against Zimbabwe in the 1983 World Cup that led India to victory against Zimbabwe from an almost losing posing position. As a bowler he was the highest test wicket taker amongst the four and that too in Indian conditions were there were no supporting pace bowlers at other end nor pace and swing friendly pitches. (Chairman passes the question to the next Member) |
1st MEMBER: |
What is a Supernova and how would you explain this phenomenon to a layman? |
RAMESH: |
Supernova is a celestial phenomenon which results in the death of a star due to a huge explosion. To a common man I will explain it like this: The core or centre of any star acts like a gigantic nuclear reactor where under high temperature and pressure huge nuclear fusion explosions take place throwing out gas and radiating energy. This counter balances the force of gravity that is pulling the gases towards its core. As the nuclear fuel of a star near its end the nuclear fusion also starts becoming less. The causes a sudden increase in the temperature and pressure. This causes the remaining nuclear fuel, which is hydrogen gas, to suddenly undergo nuclear fusion, resulting in a sudden explosion or Supernova. |
2nd MEMBER: |
What are white Dwarfs? |
RASMESH (thinks for a While): |
Sir, I am not sure about it |
2nd MEMBER: |
Mr Ramesh you are presently working as a teacher. Which aspect of the Indian education system needs to be overhauled or needs the greatest attention? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, it is the primary education that need the greatest attention. Primary education is the fundamental right of every child but the infrastructure of primary education is one of the weakest. ( Member interjects at this point. |
2nd MEMBER: |
What I mean is what methodology or fundamental principles of teaching would you like to change and why? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, our education system has to lay much more emphasis on values and discipline especially considering the materialistic society that our country is gradually becoming and the numerous social problems it is facing. Moreover the emphasis in our education should shift form rote to inquiry in greater application of mind. Further, there is also that there is practical application of what one has learned. |
2nd MEMBER: |
what about reducing the pressure of studies that students often face? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, the pressure of studies is because of the rote system of education where large amount of information has to be crammed before the exams. Evaluation therefore should shift to the application of mind, which is the intrinsic ability of a person. Pressures also build up because of excessive expectation of parents and family members. Besides fewer avenues and fewer seats in engineering, medical or other competitions also cause undue pressure(Question passes on to the next Member). |
3rd MEMBER: |
As an administrator, if you are in charge of the state, which important areas would be your priority and why? Or name three such areas. |
RAMESH: |
For overall development, all of the problem areas have to be attended to. But the three areas of priority will be: first, the law and order, this is essential to provide a secure social environment. Secondly, the infrastructure: specially power, roads, bridges, telecommunication, and irrigation. Infrastructural development is essential for economic growth. Third would be education. This is essential for the growth of human resource and progress in the long run in each sector. (Passes on the question to the next member) |
4th MEMBER: |
What is Carbon Intensity? |
RAMESH: |
I do not know about it |
4th MEMBER: |
What do we mean by Carbon Footprint? |
RAMESH: |
Sir, it is an alliance of over 120 countries falling within the tropics. Its Objective is to work for efficient utilization of solar energy so as to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels. The alliance has been formed at the Indian initiative and has headquarters in India. It will also be helpful in meeting India’s target of solar mission of installing 100 GW by 2002 and bringing reduction in emissions as undertaken by it under the Paris Agreement. |
CHARIMAN: |
Thank you Ramesh |
RAMESH: |
Thank you Sir, Good day to you all (leaves) |
RAMESH: |
Ramesh has answered the questions well, especially those which were based on views and analysis. However, he has faltered on factual questions especially on Carbon intensity. The Board expected a better response regarding carbon credit and carbon footprint. He also forgot to wish the members when he entered the room. |
